Copyright & Rights Complaints Policy
Effective date: 2026-10-20
SHOXA respects the rights of filmmakers and every other rights holder, and expects its users to do the same. This Policy explains how to report material on SHOXA and how we respond. It is part of our Terms of Use.
What we can and cannot remove. We can remove or disable creator uploads hosted by SHOXA and any SHOXA page or listing. We cannot remove a video from YouTube or another platform; ask that platform. If you hold the rights to a curated film that we present from YouTube and you do not want it on SHOXA, you can ask us to remove the SHOXA listing through the report form. No formal notice is needed, but we may ask you to show you hold the rights.
1. Copyright notices
Send notices through the copyright form. A complete notice includes:
- your physical or electronic signature;
- the copyrighted work you say is infringed (or a representative list, for several works);
- the SHOXA URL of each item you want removed;
- your name, postal address, phone number and email address;
- a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the rights holder, its agent or the law; and
- a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorised to act for them.
We review every notice in good faith and may ask for missing information. We may restrict the material while we review it, or remove it. A notice does not prove infringement. We consider licences, misidentification and legal exceptions such as fair use and fair dealing.
When we act on a notice about a creator upload, we normally tell the uploader. We send them the substance of the notice and the complainant's name and contact details they need to respond, unless the law, safety or a credible risk of harassment prevents it. Knowingly false notices can lead to liability, including under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f) where it applies.
2. Counter-notices
If your material was removed after a copyright notice and you believe this was a mistake or misidentification, send a counter-notice through the counter-notice form. It must include:
- your physical or electronic signature;
- the material removed and where it appeared on SHOXA;
- a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith it was removed by mistake or misidentification;
- your name, address and phone number; and
- your consent to the jurisdiction stated in the form and to accept service from the complainant.
We may send your counter-notice, including your contact details, to the complainant. If the complainant does not tell us they have started legal action, we may restore the material. We may decline to restore it where we have another reason under our Terms.
3. Repeat infringers
We keep records of notices and their outcomes. We terminate, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe. We may also act on a single serious or deliberate infringement.
4. Status under the US DMCA
SHOXA has not registered a designated agent with the US Copyright Office. Until it does, SHOXA does not rely on the safe harbour of 17 U.S.C. § 512(c). The forms on this page still apply to every notice and counter-notice. If we register an agent, its details will appear here.
5. Other rights and urgent concerns
Report trademark, privacy, likeness, voice, impersonation, deepfake, defamation and safety concerns through the report form. Do not use the copyright form for these. Include:
- the SHOXA URL;
- the right or concern involved;
- your connection to it; and
- any evidence.
This includes AI-generated voices, faces or bodies that imitate a real person. Mark anything urgent, such as content involving a minor or a real person's intimate imagery, and we will review it first. A dispute over who owns a creator page or film is handled through the claims process in the Terms. A report does not decide it.
6. Abuse of this process
We may disregard, and restrict the accounts of, people who send notices or reports in bad faith, in bulk without review, or to harass others.
7. Contact
Use the forms above. You can also send legal notices to SHOXA, or to shoxainfo@gmail.com with "Rights notice" in the subject line.
